Our History

Delighting customers since 1969 from the limestone bluffs of Quincy, Illinois.

A Legacy of Underground Warehousing

Since 1969, Huber Underground Warehouses Incorporated (UWI) has operated one of the world's largest warehousing and fulfillment centers. Carved into the rocky limestone bluffs overlooking the Mississippi River, our facility has served as a trusted partner for major national companies for more than five decades.

Our subterranean cavern measures 652,000 square feet below the earth's surface, giving us the flexibility to tailor areas to meet our customers' unique storage, fulfillment and distribution needs.

Part of a Family-Owned Legacy

UWI is part of the J.M. Huber Corporation, one of the largest family-owned companies in the United States. Founded by Joseph Maria Huber in 1883, the company has grown from a manufacturer of printing inks and pigments into a diversified supplier of engineered materials, natural resources and technology-based services.

For more than 100 years, our clients have benefited from the founding principles established by Joseph Maria Huber — treating every customer like a partner and going the extra mile to deliver excellence.

Built on Superior Customer Service

Our success has been built on a cornerstone of superior customer service. Our professional staff is committed to your total satisfaction and excellence, and we take great pride in our long-lasting relationships with many major national companies and the role we played in their success.
